Huge accolade for our U13 Blues coach – well done Ben!

We are immensely proud to announce that Ben Elmer won the Essex FA, Grassroots Coach of the Year Award in 2019, having been nominated by the parents and guardians of his team (now U13 Blues).

The category had received over 100 nominations, however Ben was completely unaware that his name had been put forward until he received an email form Essex FA in June to notify him that he had won the prestigious award.

Commenting on the reasons for the award, Essex FA noted that Ben had provided fantastic service to his local club, one that he also played for at youth level for many years. Moreover he was recognised for the quality of his coaching and player development to a strong level – in their first competitive season his team won the League and Cup double, plus one player progressed into academy football.

Following a three-course meal in July at Chelmsford Race Course, Ben was presented with his award by England and West Ham legend Sir Trevor Brooking. He also received tickets for the Community Shield game between Liverpool and Manchester City at Wembley, plus a kit voucher (which he duly bought some club kit).

Well done Ben from everyone at the club – a credit to us all!
